It's cleanup time again!  Beginning this week, City of Yuma residents will start setting their unwanted items at the curb and have them removed for no additional charge during the annual City of Yuma Neighborhood Cleanup, which will run through April 1.

The City of Yuma is heading back toward normalcy.  As the series of unusually strong storms ended, City crews are beginning the final cleanup phase.

Tuesday's winter storm dropped nearly one-half inch of rain on the City of Yuma, and the next storm could arrive as early as this evening.  Because of this, the City of Yuma is asking residents to be overly cautious when driving in and around our community the next couple of days.

Despite rugged economic times, the City of Yuma grew between July 2008 and July 2009, according to statistics released by the Arizona Deparment of Commerce.

The City of Yuma's population is now 94,361, up from 93,719 on July 1, 2008.  The City of Yuma population was 77,515 on July 1, 2000.  The City's population is estimated to be 119,497 in the year 2020.

The referendum put forward by P. A. Birdick to reject a land use plan, has failed.  The referendum, REF2009-01, petition was to rescind the Estancia General Plan.

Wednesday, January 6th will be a special day for Mayor Elect Al Krieger, incoming Councilmembers Jerry Stuart, Bobbi Brooks-Gurrola, and returning Councilmember Paul Johnson.  That's the day they each will take their public oath of office.  The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be held in the City Council Chambers.  The inauguration, which will be immediately followed by the Regular City Council Meeting is open to the public, but seating is limited to the first 200 attendees.  The inauguration ceremony, and City Council Meeting, will be carried live on City73 for those that cannot attend.
